How To Get There & Onward Travel
El Capote is wonderful place to begin or end a trip to Colombia, relaxing and restorative. You can purchase direct flights London to Bogota. There are twice daily, 40 minute flights from Bogota to Ibague a local airport an hour’s taxi transfer from El Capote. El Capote can also be reached by transfer car or minibus, from the highlands of Bogota, the route passes through some spectacular scenery and takes approximately 4 hours.
If you wish to extend your travel in Colombia after your stay, we can make suggestions for you should you wish to self-organise your trips.
After a restorative stay at El Capote to extend the holiday onward, connections to the Coffee growing region by car are easy and the local airport of Ibague, flights connect to Bogota, Medellin, Cartagena, Santa Marta, etc daily.

For the most enjoyable stay, plan your visit between December and March or July and August, when the weather is sunny and dry. The rainy season, typically April to June and September to November, brings heavier showers that can limit outdoor activities. Expect consistently warm, tropical weather throughout the year. You’ll want to plan for daytime temperatures in the high 20s to low 30s °C (mid-80s to low-90s °F).
There are very few mosquitos but there are very small insects, like midges, that come out at dusk. The house is enveloped by anti-midge screens and providing our guests are always indoors between 4-6pm we are safe from their small bites. When not swimming or sunbathing we recommend loose, long sleeved clothes.
